Jesus’ Mercy

Roger’s Story

Written by: Roger Sartorato

Over the past 13 years, I changed the way I used to live. I am not just working and worrying about tomorrow anymore. Instead, I am enjoying every single moment of my life together with my family and friends. And more than ever, I am very grateful to be alive, to be happily married for 36 years with Andrea, to have three sons and two grandsons. I am grateful to wake up for sunrises and be amazed by magnificent sunsets. I am grateful for Jesus’ mercy to keep me alive. The problems, the battles, disappointments and difficulties are still present in my days, but they are not commanding my life. I have faith, and I have hope. I surrendered my life to Jesus, and He is taking good care of me.

In November of 2006, I was diagnosed with an aggressive lymphoma. I went to Harbin Clinic, and God sent me  Dr. Missy Dillmon. She and her outstanding staff took care of each detail of my treatment. I trusted in her, but above all, I trusted in God and His will. I believe I had that illness as part of God’s plan for my life. During the months when the chemicals were infused into my body, my physical weakness and the stories of people around me – of people not having success with the treatment or not making it at all – make me feel like giving up.

But with the support, love, care and prayers of many, especially my wife, I won the battle against cancer!

It was on May 2007, on Mother’s Day, Missy told us about our victory. The impossible made possible.

A few weeks ago, we went to Lakeside, Montana, to visit our children and grandchildren. We spent one-day hiking at one of the many Glacier National Park trails. After a long 2 hours walk, we arrived at one of the most beautiful places I have ever been: a blue water lake surrounded by gigantic mountains. Things like that I don’t take for granted anymore!
