Sherry Bannister Peace, Board member

Sherry has dedicated her life to assisting others. She is a graduate of West Rome High School where after, Sherry went straight into a career in healthcare. She has had a long and fulfilling career in EMS as a Paramedic, then went on to become a Registered Nurse. She currently works full-time as a nurse at AdventHealth-Redmond and as a Paramedic with AdventHealth-Gordon.

Through the years, Sherry has been involved in several initiatives serving her community. She coordinated programs such as Safe Kids Floyd County, taught CPR classes all around northwest Georgia, and has written grants to assist many local law enforcement agencies and fire departments in obtaining AEDs for emergency vehicles and taught lifesaving CPR and other courses to thousands of people over the years. Sherry is also very involved in medical missions locally and in areas of disaster in the US, as well as abroad.

Sherry describes one of her first encounters with Summit Quest as, “A memory that I will forever cherish in my heart.” She was able to assist (serve as witness and last-minute bridesmaid) in a home marriage ceremony that Summit Quest was working hard to make happen for the couple. Summit Quest was able to make the couple’s dream of being married come true just days before one of them passed from cancer. She has been in awe of the works of SQ over the years and in 2018 her husband, Bill Peace, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, William and the dedicated volunteers at Summit Quest stayed by her side during every step, supporting Sherry and her family through a difficult and heartbreaking time.

Sherry spends her free time volunteering, traveling, and playing tennis with USTA and ALTA. However, her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family. Her parents, sisters and brother, two daughters and son-in-law, nieces and nephews, and her two precious grandsons have been her foundation and support and “I wouldn’t be who or where I am without them.” Sherry is continually grateful for the opportunity to serve on the board of Summit Quest but she is most grateful to be able to be the hands and feet of God while helping others through their difficult times.
